Need Help!!! What makes the fans work? Hey my fans on my car are intermittent and when they don't come on it overheats. I've checked the relays and fuses, what else could be the culprit?

They are triggered by the ECT sender (water temp sender) at the front of the block, drivers side. If that's knackered it would exhibit those signs.

do you mean the temp sending unit on the driver side head? or is there one on the block too? I replaced the one on the head that wasn't it. does anyone know how to hardwire the fans to the ignition for now just to get me by?

If you unplug the sensor from the A/C line going into the firewall, there is 3 prongs on it. If you jumper a certain 2 of those 3 wires together, it should make the fans come on. The a/c *might* have to be on for this to work, but I don't think so.
