Default Damaged cat

I found some honeycomb material at my tail pipes so I guess one of my cats is damanged. I don't know yet which side is the damaged one, maybe both of them. Now I'm wondering if some debris would get stuck inside the muffler and cause problems. Can I replace the cat with a different kind? This on my long tube setup with a catted y-pipe. Thanks.

debri in the muffler can cause some problems, this is why when people gutt there cats they leave the why pipe open for a bit.....just take the cats off and inspect them
