90/90 on cam only set up

Default 90/90 on cam only set up

ive got a 224-224 / 581-581 cam with longtubes and ls-6 intake. im installing ls2 90 tb/fast 90 intake. im hoping for some extra power until i install heads later. the car made 408 rwhp with ls-6, and has trapped 125mph NA, ive got a fairly lightweight vette. what would some of you guys that know expect?

It's not really going to make TOO much of a difference with a smaller cam like that, but when combined with heads it's going to make a nice difference. Just make sure and do some clean-up porting on the manifold when you throw those heads on for the absolute best gains.

thanks, thats what i was told. a buddy of mine had identical motor set up (cam only 224/ls6 intake) in his auto ws6 and would run 12.1x @ 112 and after he put 90/90 and AFR heads he went 11.5x @ 118. the heads and intake definitely go hand and hand. he didnt even port the intake. im thinking when i put heads on, mine will even react better since my car is 10% lighter than his and much more aerodynamic.

well ran the car after installation, my sotp says its faster but its definitely not worth the $1150 until i put the ported heads on. ****.

So, if the 90/90 will be great with the heads, and you had to buy it and install it at some point anyway, why wasn't it worth it? You said it felt faster, and would really help with the heads, but did you really think it would make a huge difference by itself? Maybe a new tune will help you decide it was worth it?
