Default Dumbfounded

I dont want to buy the wrounge air lid and dont really know what year lid to buy if it even matters. I got a v6 firebird base with supposvly a corvette engine in it. I think its a 99 vette engine but im not really sure. But it dont have a vette like air intake. It has a f-body air lid thingy. So im just not sure on what year lid to buy for my car and it needs one the current one is cracked and everything. Thanx

No its a pre 01-02 engine, someone has already taken the AIR system and EGR system out as you can see the sensor plug for the EGR is still there. Someone probably put either a corvette LS1 intake or LS6 intake already. Check the P/N.

you need the 98-00 one because the 01-02 lid comes with the air hose hole in the side which you dontt need

I agree, looks like 98-00 lid to me from the pic, sweet that they cleared up the bay by already removing AIR and EGR though. I wonder if that is an ls6 intake on it, take it off and look at the underneath side. if LS1 the i believe its the mounting brackets that look like an x and if LS6 it would rectangular or something of the sort. ask around these guys know what to look for. Fountain of knowledge on here, personally think its a bit better than ls1.com but only my personal opinion

Just look at the number stamped on the side on the intake to see if it is an LS6 or LS1 intake, no need to take it off. Take the number and type it in the search here, you will easily find out which manifold it is.

Looks like a 98-02 to me too...

FWIW, GMHTP did a comparison last month on seven different air lids, and I think the MTI lid put out the best numbers.

Just a thought...

First off, I don't think the motor came out of a vette. Alot of people go around saying I have a vette motor in my f-body, like it makes their car sound like King ****! When infact all it is, is they same motor they use in both cars. It's called a LS1. If that motor came out of a vette, then they swapped intake and throttle body. Because the vettes have a different throttle body then that.

The intake manifold says 12573572

The heads say 853

If anyone can tell me what that means I would appreciate it.

From the PN list here on the board:

LS6 intake manifold (from Corvette Z06) = ? (formerly 12573572)

The 853 is the casting number for the heads. Others for example are 241, 243, etc...

Look around and see if you can see an actual PN on the head. Should be the same number of digits as the intake PN.

Vettes had the drive by wire and F-bodys have the throttle cable. Dont know how I didnt notice that at first.

Your manifold is an LS6 from a 01-02 Fbody or vette. Your 853 casting heads are from a 99-00 LS1 engine, which is what your engine is. You have a 99 or 00 LS1 engine from an Fbody in your car right now.
