Default Do I need a new radiator?

So I'm putting on a tranny cooler last weekend. I'm loosening the top tranny line that goes into the radiator. I ran it dope style. Well while breaking the top line loose from the radiator I actually hit the tb coolant line that goes from the radiator to the tb. I completely broke the fitting off the radiator. I end up putting some sealant on the hole I now have on my radiator. Stuff works good and sealed the hole in the radiator. I put a rubber boot over the fitting on the tb with a clamp to hold it. It hasn't leaked and the hole in the radiator is sealed. I've been doing some reading on here and read that the line still needs to go from the radiator to the block even if the tb lines are blocked because its a pressure relief for the block. Is this so? I'd rather not buy a new radiator if I don't have to. Thanks.
