just wondering what is the point of running a breather in your valve cover over just the cap? seen it on a few cars and was just wondering is it for looks or what?

Most people with a breather do it after ditching their pcv system. instead of using the intake manifold vacuum to suck off the excess pressure from the crankcase (and hence the reason we all get oil sucked into our intakes) they just use a breather to vent the heads to atmospheric. It's usually not for looks.

If you want to read more about this, do a tincy-tiny search. There's only about 385 threads per week about it.
