Default Optima battery?

If this question is in the wrong place please move.

I know that Optima red top 75/25 is a direct fit for our f-bodies, but is anyone using the larger 34/78? If so were there any fitment issues? Thanks.

It can fit in there, you just need something else to hold it down with. It won't hold on the stock tray. It is a tight fit, but I don't remember having to modify anything to git it in, just to hold it down.

I went with the 75/25 because of that issue. I did a test fit with the 34/78 and it was fine.

The hold down should be included with the battery. Mine came with about 3 I think.

Are there any real big advantages to getting the optima? Or is it just a good new addition to have?

Not much advantage to a red top...the yellow is better if you have alot of stereo or other add-ons.

I have a yellow top and I cut the stock rubber hold down to fit the curves of the side of the battery. Now it fits with no problem. I have add it since 2002 and it's starting to go out on me. I had another yellow top that lasted for 6 years. Has to be one of the best investment I've ever top on that car.
Funny story, I once broke down and when the tow truck came to get me, it broke down. So we push my car up next to it then jumped started it. He left and then came back another truck then THAT truck quit. We did the same thing and he went off. after 2 more hours a 3rd truck showed up and I was like, "HEY, my car is not a ****! Tell you boss to quite sending me **** of **** truck to fix!"
