Default race headers/ORY vs. emission legal exhaust

Physically, what's the difference b/t race headers and OFY and emissions legal exhaust components?

race headers don't have any provisions to hook up to the emissions equipment at all.

Even though they are called emission's headers, they are still not legal because even if you added cats to the y-pipe, the cats wouldn't be in the stock location and federal law says you can't move the cats. With that being said, you can most likely install emission's headers which have the AIR and EGR hookups, add dual cats to the y-pipe and most states will pass the car as long as it isn't throwing an SES code.
