need help big decision
hey guys ive had my trans am a couple monthes and i finally got the rearend up on jacks and took a peak. I saw that the previous owner had put a hooker catback on the car and a volant air kit in the front. Until i saw the hooker catback i was deadset on getting a magnaflow catback. does anyone have any suggestions as to wether i should keep the hooker or get a magnaflow? i am also wondering wether i should go with a lid setup or keep the volant? any opinions are appreciated and will def. be taken into consideration. also keep inmind that i had plenty of money saved up and am still looking to spend it. soo if you have any suggestions on my next upgrades let me know thanks alot

Depending on the plans for the car. If you don't mind the hooker then why spend money replacing it? Use that money for other stuff like a set of LT's or an LS6 intake. If you are mechanical and can do your own work look into a cam for your ride. If all you want is a catback then pull the hooker and sell her...I mean it, and get the Magnaflow like you wanted. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

HAMRHEAD i agree with you i think ill keep the hooker no point in spending the money i guess i just needed to hear it from someone else do you think i could do the cam next or after the headers? let me know what you think i love the sound of them and the power they can unleash, but im concerned that my trans am will not be breathing well enough to do put a cam in next (keeping in my i only have a volant kit and a hooker catback) but id really like to hear what you think and anyone else as well i do have some money to spend and i have big dreams for the car. thanks guys

Keep the Hooker and Volant. The Magnaflow wont gain any power over the Hooker and both sound nice. The Volant makes a little more power than a lid. Use that money for some longtubes and y pipe. Definately do headers before the cam.

As far as the hooker catback goes, although im biased, i think its a great exhaust with a good tone, one that sounds great with LTs and a cam.

Magnaflow sounds better than hooker imo, so I would get a Magnaflow, and sell the hooker to make up some of the difference.
The volant works reasonably well, no reason to change it unless you want to run a paper filter.
Def headers before cam!

Depending on how much $ you have saved, keep the exhaust and intake. They are great products. I bought my car for 1/2 what I was expecting and nicer than I wanted. It was a great deal, and I have tons for money for mods. Now its less than 2 months later, I have a full bolt on (minus ls6 intake) Z28, but its not running right. I'm waiting on a couple more parts that should do the trick, and I def need a tune. And I'm down to my last $1,000. Money goes quick, don't spend it where its not needed.
I put a rumbler on it because it had a flow master- Good decision
I bought 4 new BFG Sports when 3 of my tires were nearly brand new (Blow out)- Bad decision.
Spend your money wisely. And remember, it's only a car, I've been told numerous times "You're putting tons of money into it, it's still not running right, and you probably won't feel a difference until you get better at launching."
My car, my money. I'm not giving them a ride.
