Incorrectly poeted tb causing bad idle????
Sold a ported TB and the buyer claims his tuner says it was ported incorrctly and won't work on his car. Somehow it idles at 1500rpm because of the bad port job. This tb was on my car and worked flawlessly. Is this even possible? I've never heard of this before.

Maybe installed incorrectly? Maybe a bad seal? Unless there's a hole in it, the flap is sticking or it has a vacuum leak I can't see the TB being the problem. I suspect the tuner is the problem.

did you do the knife edge on the throttle blade? If so it may cause the blade not to shut all the way...as said above. That still doesn't explain why it worked for you and not him...operator error?

If there were a problem with the porting around the blade, I would expect it would have had the same effect on the origional install too. That's why I believe it the tuner, or a sealing problem.

i bought a ported t/b and it idled around 1500-1800 and the idle would move up and down like a vaccum leak, i have a newer style t/b on mine now and the idle screw was adjusted wrong, few turns of the screw and my car was back to normal

You can see a crack of light around the blade on a stocker if the ridge wasnt in the way. If you could not then the blade would stick. However, the porting beyond the blade(overporting) will cause excess gap(more than usual light when held up to a light) and hense air bleeding around the blade at idle. Take a piece of tape and put over the bleed hole in the blade and see what that does if in fact it has been overported.

1500 rpm really sounds like a vacuum leak to me, it would have to be way over ported to raise the rpm that much. If it worked on your car and idled fine, then i suggest it was installed wrong. Was the blade drilled out at all? Was your car cammed or tuned?
