My two mccord power plates crapped out in about year. I just took the motors out and hosed em down with WD40 & ran em on my bench and they started working again. Mine just crapped out cuz the motors were full of dirt so I would be sure to try cleaning yours before you junk them

This is exactly why I would only get a normal cut out. Something about having an electric motor next to all the heat and dirt of an exhaust system just never sounded right to me. Just get a regular cutout and leave it open all the time.

Ive had my QTP cut-outs for close to 3 years without a problem although in my application they are located at the very rear of the exhaust so they might not see as much heat as a typical application.
Barry at QTP is very fair and I would encourage any of you in the event you ultimately have a problem to contact him directly. Im sure if they are reasonably close to new he would help you at no charge....after a year or two I dont think $30 is out of line considering the corrosive and brutal environment of your exhaust system. And I personally like the compact design of the QTP cut-out which is another reason I opted to use him.
Just my .02

Tony

I didn't post to bash QTP they make some quality products. But most places don't stand behind their products like Barry is doing. Most of the time if somethings out of warranty its out of warranty and the customer is left holding the bag. And the searches I did hit the posts where everybody says my stuff don't work more and 90 percent of the failures was probally due the operator himself. Nobody ever posts Barry will fix you up for 30 bucks.
I stand corrected. Enough said.
+1 for sponsers who stand behind their products.

Well there is a lesson to be learned here. Don't put on your electic cutout and forget about a little bit of maintance. I try to a least once a month to let it hold it with some WD40 or Power lube or whatever. Along with checking the torque arm lock nut and tranny bolts and whatever your ride loves to shake loose just for the pure hell of it.

Had QTP first. It rattled when closed and I sold it as it annoyed me. The guy that bought it off me had it die on him. It didn't last very long at all. I bought a DMH next. It rattled but is still working but hate the rattling so going with one last chance pricier one..pro street or something like that.
They are great fun when they work.
Anyone run those pro street ones?
