Default Vibration after LT and ORY install?

I just had Pacesetter LT's and ORY installed and I am getting alot of vibration on the drivers side. It seems like the Y-Pipe is slapping the floor. Is this normal and what needs to be done to fix it?

Does it just need to be adjusted more?

Thanks

You can try messing with the adjustment/alignment - if that get's you no where - try the Mufflex Bump Stop Hanger at Thunder Racing. I have one on my 2nd TA and it works well.

Poly motor mounts have been known to fix this problem. Might also try putting some heat resistant wrap around the y pipe on thet side and it might make the banging a little less noticeable.

For the record the Mufflex bump stop thing just doesn't cut it. the damn heater hose mod works better.

You will need to do (1) of (2) things to stop it.

(1) install new poly motor mounts
(2) do the heater hose mod & stick a piece of heater hose between the ORY & floor of the car.

Thanks for the info, looks like poly motor mounts are going in.

Well, I have the Mufflex BS and it works just fine.

If you install either poly motor mounts or tranny mount - be prepared to feel vibration from them.

Not saying they won't get the job done, but you complained about vibration so I tried to give a solution that would solve your y-pipe interference problem & not impart any further vibration.

So don't be surprised when you now feel vibration due to poly motor mount instead of the y-pipe.

Well a little vibration is fine but right now it feels like someone is riding under my car banging the floor with a hammer.

But thanks for the info.

Thats all y-pipe man. I personally wouldn't waste $40 on the bump stop hanger again. I got the heater hose in there now & it's perfectly fine. Was also a free fix.

The minimal vibration you pick up from the poly mounts won't be anything like the y-pipe hitting the floor. They will make everything feel stiffer like it should. Your motor won't torque to 1 side anymore & the tranny won't move as much when shifting.

Ok I might do the heater hose as a short term fix. How do you put it in? Do you just wedge it between the floor and the Y-pipe, or wrap it around the pipe?

Either way depending how much room you have. Probably the best way is to install a piece sideways and run a hose clamp through middle of it.

Most y-pipes will bang from what I understand....but if you can't adjust it yourself, I would see what an exhaust shop could do to bend the pipe and make it so there is a good clearance all the way around.

Luckily, my AR LT's and y-pipe are vibration free. They were a great fit and I have more clearance on both sides than I had with the stock y-pipe.

Well I intalled a some heater hose and the vibration is still there. Maybe I am using the wrong size or putting it in the wrong place.

I used 3/4" because that looked to be the best fit and I put it about a foot from where the y-pipe meets the header.

Can someone let me know if I am not doing it right.

Thanks

I moved the heater hose to a different spot and it is alot better now, no more banging but I still get some moderate vibration while accelerating. This will work for now but I want to eliminate almost all of the vibration, guess I will have to take the Y-Pipe off and bend it a little for more clearance.

Thanks for all of the help

On my cars I took a big hammer and got under the car and beat the floorboard up where the pipes hit. After that I'm able to tuck the exhaust up pretty good and have no banging at all.
