To get merge collectors or not....
I plan on changing my Hookers for a set of Kooks 1 7/8" headers. I want the ultimate header and I don't want to have to switch again. Are merge collectors worth anything through a full exhaust? Anything at all anywhere in the powerband? Thanks in advance.

After talking with Nick at Kooks, they are more for running open headers and used as a test tool to get the absolute most from your setup. At a starting price of $600, it wasn't worth hoping for the extra 5-10 HP you may or may not get IMO of course...

I just ordered a set of Kooks 1 7/8 coated headers. His have a spike collector inside already. Maybe not the same thing, but they are in there. Should be here in 2-3 weeks.

I couldn't justify spending that kind of money for 2-3 hp. They would be more beneficial on true race cars that are up in the RPM's all the time.

Seems the general consensus is not to use them with a y pipe but with true duals or dual cutouts right after the headers it may be worth it.
