Default EGR question

Hi there, i've got a 99 trans am ls1 into a jeep wrangler, and was wondering if there was any downside to blocking off the egr stuff (besides smog). I have long tube headers w/ the egr outlets, but none of the other parts. Can't i just block off all the holes and put a plate on the intake manifold inlet? I was thinking it might be easier than buying the needed parts. Thanks!

Danny

You should be able to just remove it and block everything off. You'll probably throw a code because of it but I'm guessing with a project like yours that won't be the only one, get a tune, have the code removed.

Check the sticky for more info on this stuff.

An LS1 in a Jeep sounds sick, good luck man!

A bunch of guys on here including myself block off the EGR.

I would cut the EGR provisions off the headers completely, then just get the hole welded up.

I blocked mine off and bought a LS6 intake. Worked fine
