Default Exhaust Question

I'm wanting to run a full 3inch from the Ypipe back, im debating on running the Hooker aerochamber muffler http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
in the same spot as the stock muffler, or running a dynomax bullet like this http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku in line with the exhaust and have it split into duals in the back. What would be the loudest and or sound the best. Or what would you guys recommend muffler wise i dont want extremly loud but i dont want quiet id rather have it medium to medium loud, like on a scale of 1 to 10 maybe a 7 or 8.

I plan on running longtube headers and offroad ypipe later on as funds allow.

the Hooker will sound better, and a bit tamer...
get cutouts if you still want more..

I have TDs and they are too dam loud...I am going back to a y pipe set up with a flowmaster in the stock muffler location for the street and cutouts behind the headers for racing and scaring the **** out of people at red lights

going with the bullet...is gonna be too loud when you put the orp on.

i'd stick with the other choice.

If you're going with the headers and O/R Y, definately go with the hooker. The other system youre talking about is the same as the TSP rumbler. It mounts the muffler in the I pipe just before the axle, then splits into 2 just over the axle.

I think the bullet will be louder than what you want. The hooker will be very deep and powerful, but will keep the sound level at a reasonable level for a daily driver.
Heres a clip of the hooker with LT's and O/R Y:

Oh and FYI, That dynomax muffler you linked to will not work. I know because I have one sitting in the garage because it wont fit. Its too big around and too long.

If you want a muffler in the I pipe, either get a 1 chamber flowmaster or the dynomax bullet:

I think im just going to order the hooker aero chamber muffler and have the exhaust shop fab up 3inch exhaust from the ypipe back im pretty positive i will save money by doing this other than just buying the 350+ catback.

I remember hearing something about taking the Cat out will through codes because of the 02 sensor is this true? if so what are ways around it.

You can buy the 3in pipe from the Y to the muffler from summit. I forget the part #'s but runs a little over $100 for both pipes. The muffler will be around that price also. I would get a quote from a shop before you decide on that, many times its cheaper just to get the whole cat back. if you're interested in the pipes, let me know and i'll get the part #'s for you.

You will throw a code if you delete the cats. The rear O2 sensors will throw the code. Theres 2 ways around this: you can get the rear O2's turned off with a tuner, or you can get a set of O2 sims. The tuner is the best way, and the O2 sims arent being made anymore so you will have to find a used set someone isnt using anymore.

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=HOK-21729HKR - Muffler

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=WLK-54064 - I Pipe

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=WLK-53061 - Over Axle To Muffler (is this correct?)

Total is 211.00 Shipped, then i would have to have the short peices that come off the muffler made, and everything welded up. I will run by the exhaust place today after work and get a quote on how much it would be for him to just build me one and then a quote for him to just weld everything up and if its cheaper then buying the catback ill just go that rout. What are your guys's thoughts??

Those are the parts. Sorry I couldnt help find them sooner, Im at work.

If you have the stock muffler, you could probably still use the pipes that come out of the muffler, and your tips you have now. They should be 2.5in if i remember right.

I would think it would be the cheapest route to buy the parts and have them welded up.

no problem, that is a good idea about using the tips coming off the stock muffler. But id say it couldnt cost anymore than 250 to get all the parts and have it welded up, what do u think?

I was also looking and you can pick up 8 foot of 3inch exhaust piping from jegs for around 30bucks. I wonder if it would be cheaper to buy that and the muffler, then have them bend and weld it up, what do u think?
