Default Is there a way to drain all the coolant from the coolant reservoir tank?

With out taking the reservoir out. I was thinking of pouring in purified water until it runs clear. BTW I want to get rid of all traces of the old coolant so I can run the green stuff. Thanks in advance.

Your gonna want to remove it & wash it out good. It's very simple. Just remove the battery & the tray under it.

Drill a hole in the bottom =P

Seriously, you could add a drain to the bottom with a valve, I ditched mine and run a little 1 qt overflow it comes with a drain at the bottom also.

Thanks guy', those are all good idea's. If I'm too lazy to remove the reservoir I might try the vacuum or pump method and then pour water back in and repeat the process.

If this is to clean it out b/c your changing coolant fluids from Dexcool to Green, you need to remove it & clean it right. Being lazy could cause you future coolant system issues if you don't get ALL the Dexcool out first.

It doesn't take that long & I'd also suggest making a pot of hot water in a coffee maker & pouring it in there & shaking it to break loose any possible sludge.

No way would I rely on a shop vac to get that container cleaned out the way it needs to be.

I'll be draining all the old coolant from the cooling system and then adding purified water to the cooling system to dilute the old coolant from the system. I'll probably do this several times to make sure I get all the old coolant out along with removing the reservoir tank. BTW chistmorales75, I would like to see a picture of your setup If you could please.

The dexi-fliud is in the:

1. Reservior
2. Radiator
3. Hoses
4. Engine block
5. heater core

In order to change from orange to green you need to remove all the old fluid first. This is NOT an easy thing to do.

You should re-consider this move.

If I switch over I'm gonna take my car to a shop & have the coolant system flushed on their machines to ensure it all comes out.

I agree. Stick with what the manual says. Regular maintenance on the coolant is all you need.

Just use Prestone dex-cool compatible fluid. I removed the hose from the reservoir tank and filled it with water and blew it out with air from an air tank.
