Siezed balancer bolt?
Hey guys i have a 6.0 and attempted to do a cam swap today but the balancer bolt appears to be seized into the crank. I have an impact rated at 950ft lb in reverse and broke 2 sockets trying to get it out. I was not sure if i should heat it so I did'nt, any suggestions?

are you using impact sockets, or chrome sockets? Also the gun is rated at 950 reverse lb ft, but how much are are you supplying to it? If its not getting enough psi it could be running a lot less than 950. Also I used a 1/2" drive breaker bar with an impact socket, and a 6 foot steel pipe as some added leverage and with the ebrake on and the car in 4th gear it broke free

I had my engine on the engine stand when i went to remove mine. I had to stick a bolt in the flywheel hole and have the engine mounted right up against the stand so the bolt would catch. Then i wailed on a 4ft breaker bar/24mm stubbie impact socket with a 4lb sledge for about 20 swings until mine broke loose. The engine almost fell over amidst all this too. They are really on there. I dont see why heating up around it wouldnt work. It's really the threadlocker that seizing it i think.

You have to jam the engine if its on a stand. Have a friend keep it from tipping over. I'm sure swinging that 4lb sledge full force on a 4ft breaker bar i was putting over 1000ftlb of force out and it took quite a few hits to break it loose. I used a short socket though, you wont break it as easily and it helps eliminate some torsional play.
