Default can a fast78 be upgraded to a 90mm

I read that all you have to do is swap out the to shell to the 90mm? Is this right? What is involved?

Correct. You just need to buy the upper shell. I would recommend buying the gasket as well. It's a straight forward procedure; simply remove the intake bolts holding the two pieces together, gently pry the upper shell away and replace. It will take some pressure to seat the new gasket.
