The right cam?
Ok, this stuff is starting to confuse the hell out of me. I read about it one place, and it seems like the right one. I read another place about a slightly smaller one and someone says it's a nasty effin cam. Anyway, here's the deal....
I need to get a second opinion on a cam. I’m looking at something with a 232/236 with . 581/.588 and 112. I’ve got an LS1 with SLP lid, K&N filter, Pacesetter LT’s, ORY, and borla cat back. I’m going to add an LS6 intake with a performance products 80mm throttle body before I get the cam, then after the cam (maybe the same time) I’m gonna get some heads too. I’m looking for something with a good power gain that doesn’t have an extremely nasty idle. The car is nearly a daily driver, with functioning A/C, and I’d like to keep it working without worrying about dying because of my cam. Is the dimensions I described to big for what I'm looking for, or does it sound about right?

You're probably going to get an array of results with this question because everyones definition of "streetable" is different.. It definitely sounds like a healthy cam, and I'm sure there are lots of guys out there DD'ing it, however, I'm kind of in the same boat as you and after a 9", I'm wanting to throw some bump stick to it... I was thinking of something in the range of the TR224 or 228 cam.. anywhere in there seems to be nice performers for what they are, as well as a good DD cam..

My buddy DD his 233/239 .591/.596 cam for quite some time, he also had PRC 2.5 5.3L heads. And he still had A/C. Drive ability has to do with the TUNE!! Just get a street tune and you'll be alright.

If you're wanting a 'smoother' idle, then you would probably want to get something with a little higher LSA. Probably around a 114 or so. People DD their car with cams as big as the TSP Magic Stick but it will come down to what your goals are power and street wise for your car to decide what cam would match you the best.

Thats a decent sized cam i would say more midrange to upper rpm for sure, and it will have a nasty idle, not as nasty or as an ms4 or t-rex by any means but it will still lope pretty hard with 10 degrees of overlap! I would say go for it man!
