Default Plain duals vs duals w/X pipe

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with my exhaust. Does anyone know the differance(if any) in power between running mufflers and dumps right off the headers compared to an x pipe into mufflers and out dumps? Right off the headers would be alot easier for me and leave enough room for a driveshaft loop but I'm concerned about power and noise levels. Thanks for any input.

I think the exhaust set-ups go as follows:
True Dual with X-Pipe
True Dual with H-Pipe
True Dual
3" ORY-Pipe
3" catted Y-Pipe
etc

You should be ok just doing two pipes but you will get better exhaust scavenging and a better sound/performace from the x-pipe or h-pipe.

Don't most of the 'bid dawgs' run just open headers with extension at the track? I'm guessing this would hurt my bottom end on the street though.
