Default what is it with exhaust shops and true duals?

I took my car to an exhaust shop today. Every shoip before it said they wont do true duals becaus eit cant be done. The one today told me that hes not saying he wont do it, but hes not sure how it could possibly work because the pipes would be too close to the fuel and brake lines. I told him I could bring pictures of setups from users here but he said he just doesnt see how and hpipe would be safe to use.

Is there something I didnt realize about having true duals dumped before the axle and the risk of hittings a fuel or brake line? I had never heard anything about that, the only problem I heard of was torque arms.

Ditto to Detox. Not just with True Duals, but I find that almost anything I want out of the ordinary, heck, even changing rear gears, shops get all in a huff about it. It's BS! You just need find a good shop, maybe one of the sponsors on here is near you and could do it? And lots of people run true duals on these cars, it just requires time and fabrication.

I have had shops here tell me that they would do it for 450 ish for 3'' steel pipe. But, if you just get a regular catback at least you have no chance of your car being held up in the shop if it is too hard for the guy..

Take your car to a speed shop that works on late model f bodies and not a general muffler shop.

What did Exhaust Pros say? Is your muff too tuff?

I don't understand what's so hard about dumped duals either. Did you check The Shop on N. 33rd? I don't have any experience with them, but they're the closest thing we have to a decent speed shop around here.

I thought about checking the shop but Ive heard some negative things about them. im so close to just ordering the tsp xpipe....I really wanted an hpipe because from the videos ive heard so far I tend to like the sound better, but hard as it is to get one made here, it may not be worth it. There was a user here that was selling an hpipe but he never responded to my pms

well i kind of wanted to have one made custom so i could maybe avoid getting an aftermarket torque arm! I mean if theres no other way than i guess theres nothing i can do but i like the sound of hpipes better and If made custom i might be able to get by without spending nearly 400 bucks on a torque arm.

My guy would do it in a second. He did true duals on my Thunderbird I had before this. There was a lot of bends in this exhaust. He is only like 22 also. Awesome welding and fab skills.

Most of the guys that say they can't do it just suck at fabricating.

I found a guy that was going to put my headers on for me cheap before I had a shop. He had a muffler shop and i told him I wanted to install headers and a true dual setup. Anyway i bring my headers in he takes one look at them and tells me i got the wrong headers. I said the shop I bought them from said they we fine. I had SLP's LT he told me that he only does shorty headers and that mine wouldnt work, and he was not comfortable with doing LT's. Needless to say I scrapped the whole deal. I only go to speed shops now because it is so hard to find someone knowledgeable in late model f-bodies.
