Theres a plug behind the #8 spark plug on the head. I think it has a torx head on it. Good luck getting to it!

That plug is a M10*1.5 I think. I had to special order that adapter from autometer (M10*1.5 to 1/8 pipe thread) I installed this while my new heads were still off the car. Have fun.

No need to get to the #8 cylinder, which is damn near impossible by the way. Just remove the starter, and right above it in the block there is a plug. Use a 8mm head wrench to get it out. I believe the threads for it are M16x1.5. It's a million times easier than the other one. Make sure you use teflon tape and a crush washer when you put it in.

Yeap thats what I did (above starter). However the temp reading from the block might differ (minimaly less) from temp reading in heads (which is the what u want to keep an eye on).
But unless you are a harcore modder with outrageous amount of power, that would be negligeable.

Who sells the fitting to adapt the thread in the block to the Cyberdyne sender thread, which is 1/8 pipe, I believe? Thanks. WJ.(the one above the starter is the thread I'm talking about).

Here you go. These are very cheap($3.76) compared to more than $10 at Jegs and Summit. I got the M16x1.5 for that plug hole above the starter.

if you can get under the car, like i can, at a lube shop that one on the head is simple. 8mm hex socket and it pops right out, just seems to take forever to get the coolant level full again

I just finished putting my sending unit in that plug hole above the starter on my 99 T/A. I have an Autometer guage and sender, so I had to get an adapter to fit that hole. The adapter is an Autometer part (p/n 2268 metric adapter). The adapter comes with a crush washer. Easy to remove starter (only 2 bolts) and I just left my wires connected and supported the starter so I wouldn't have to disconnect the wires. The plug is right there. 8 mm hex head removes the plug, thread size is M16 x 1.5. Yeah! Now I have ACCURATE water temp!!
