Default Longtubes for my c5 z06

I have a 2003 c5 z06 and want a set of longtubes. I think im going with kooks due to the fact they are cheaper than most and are highly recommended. My question is can I/should I bolt just the headers up to my stock cats/x-pipe ect or is it worth it to just buy the rest of the system? Looking to spend around $1,000
Current mods are just electric cutouts and BFG DR's

Most of the time long tubes will not work with the factory Y pipe( not sure about X pipe) but if they are longer than the stock header I dont see it working. I would look into ARH for your car. I have seen some of the Corvette pieces they have made and they are great. I am running their headers on my 01 Trans AM
I would also hate to think that I just spent 1000, or more on a set of headers and my exhaust was not making the most of it, but then again I already had the cat back replaced. Its really a matter of what you can afford. If you drive your car a lot or if it sees any rain or road salt make sure you look into Stainless headers. They are more exspensive than regular ceramic coated ones, but they will last damn near forever

Get a set of American Racing Headers. You WILL NOT regret it. PM me if you need some prices.

Do you really think leaving my stock cats/x-pipe will take enough power away for me to notice? Also I see on Kooks site that they sell a kit to connect to stock cats/system so I'm guessing I can hook up the lts to my cats.

Whats your guys's thoughts on leaving the stock cats/x-pipe will it make a noticable difference?
Also with the aftermarket 3" x-pipe does it taper to 2.5" to hook up to the catback?
