Default HELP... Blew the f'n motor today...

Well, the other day i had went to to track and i had made a nitrous run and heard some rattling coming from under the hood about 80ft. from the end of the track sooo i let off the gas petal and just coasted to the end of the track. I was baffled as to what is was so i gave it another shot and quoted "it will go or it will blow" so of course it happend! ****! The car is also procharged with a 150 shot. Here's what hapend. The car just suddenly shut off and it SMOKED like crazy; thought it was on fire for a minute. It was smoking out the rear of the car too from the exhaust. Tried to start it and the starter just grinds; so it's hydrolocked or something. I pulled a spark plug out today and the tip was BROKEN OFF. I think i have somehow put a **** load of water in the cylinders. I just a few months ago put ARP head studs in there along with new head gaskets from GM.

Has anyone had this sort of thing happen to them? Any opinions on what happened? Did i lift a head or heads? Don't see how i could have lifted the heads though with the studs. I just HOPE like hell i haven't bent a rod!Any light spead on this subject would be great. Just don't want this to happen again. Oh the radiator is empty.

WOW!!! Sorry to hear that bro! ...but was the car tuned to the nitrous? Cuz with a procharger and then a 150 shot of nitrous, tends to lean out the car quite a bit. You might of blown the whole motor. And if ur out of water in the radiator, then you probly cracked the block. Check your dipstick and check if it has water.

...bottom line, start tearing that **** up and get prepared to buy another engine. Always prepare for the worst in this type of situation that way ur not dissapointed later. Start with the heads and work ur way down the block.

Again, sorry to hear that bro!!

The motor has been there for about 4-5 years. About 1-2 on the bottle. Need to check the oil though. Didn't even think to check that!! Duh!!!

pushrods are the least of your problems. I dont think theres any way around fully dissassembling and rebuilding it with whatever is not damaged.

Well just check the dipstick and nothing on it. There was oil on the underside of the oil filler neck cap??

I'm suprised you have enough fuel to support the procharger and the 150 shot. I have a walbro intank with a kenne bell boost a pump, 60 # injectors and when I hit 5,500 rpm the boost is at 8psi @55 psi fuel pressure... 6,500rpm - 11 #'s of boost @40psi of fuel pressure. I'm sending my pump to LPA for a dual pump set up. We stoped tuning due to the loss of fuel and the highest I got on the dyno was 541rwhp @5,100 rpms. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge you can watch while driving. I'm going to guess you went lean and it popped. Just my $.02. Good luck with the rebuild.

Well all was good on the dyno when i was making 620rwhp on the 50 shot. Perfect air/fuel. Yes, i do have a fuel pressure gauge that i always try and watch. If it went lean due to the nitrous wouldn't the piston or something else be broke? There is a lot of water in the top of the motor. No water on the dipstick, just water under the oil filler neck cap.

You won't be able to do a compression test if the engine can't spin over. That rattling sound you heard was most likely a cracked piston. When you ran it the second time that piston came apart, busted a sleave, and emptied the contents of the radiator and crankcase through the exhaust. The best thing to do is tear everything down to see if anything at all is salvagable and start making a parts list.

I'm willing to bet this is what happened. Your gonna pull the heads and find one hell of a mess in there.

What if i pulled all the spark plugs out and see if i can turn it over then? I think that the cylinders are full of water. What if there is nothing wrong with the pistons, rods, or heads?
