Default PCV mod. oil in the intake.......why?

I was just wondering about the issue that a lot of LS1 owners have with oil getting into the intake from the PCV system. I have heard a lot of people upgrading to the LS6 system and using a catch can, but what I'm wondering is the reason behind this small problem?

Just curious, thanks

As the engine is running, oil is tossed up into the air. At the same time, the engine is pulling vacuum on the crank case (through the PCV system). As air moves through the crank case (by way of the PCV system), that oil mist gets carried with the air molecules and ultimately gets pulled into the intake manifold.

The LS6 valley cover has a separator (a number of baffles in a box) that "catch" some of this oil. By putting a catch can, you give the oil one more place that it can "drop" that oil before it gets to the intake manifold.

...you install exhaust headers and then you have this oil sucking problem to deal with...

...it is better to deal with it immediately since the oil residue can build up fast...
