Re: Federal Mogel VS Clevitte 77 bearings
Carl, I have used both in the motors I have built for myself and others. I have had no problems with either.
If I had to go with one or the other, it would be the FMs just because we always have them in stock. lol

LOL... I was going to go with the FMs because you had them in stock too Thats what I have now. When I was putting my motor together, my dad came out and looked at the bearing and told me that I got used bearings because it looks like old bearings from the new process that FM uses
Man... I wish I lived closer or had a place like Thunder local

Re: Federal Mogel VS Clevitte 77 bearings
I went with the fm mains (some std and some 1 under) I went with the clevite 77 h rod bearings 1 over. My kryptonite rods were a little tight. My rods and rod journals were very consistent, but I really had to mix and match bearing halfs on the mains to get the clearance consistent. The reason I went with the clevites on the rods is because my machinist said the radius on the fm rod bearings was even more than the clevites. Since the stock crank has a very minor radius, I thought that it would be a good idea to get as much bearing surface on the journal as possible. Even the clevites have too much radius chamfer built in, but oh well..
