Default no tach after cam install? help please?

Yes, i'm a newbie. but i still need help.

some friends and i installed a 224 cam last night and got it all back together and started it up. got oil pressure but the tach doesnt work now and it idles WAY high. Did they forget to plug something in?

any suggestions?

Did you unplug the cam sensor? you might have forgot to plug it back in.

they might have. i didnt do much but be a tool gofer. it threw the P0342 cam sensor code. would that mean it wasnt plugged back in. Good help is so hard to find these days...

its on the back side of the intake if not under the intake... I think its under. eitherway a royal PITA just to plug in a sensor. try to find the help here or here

Hrm, it seems very unlikely that sensor would become unplugged during a cam swap. Did they have your intake manifold off too? Maybe the cam was ground wrong or something and the part that the cam position sensor reads is all wrong?
