Default Cleaning up heads

What type of clean can one use to clean up a set of heads of oil and carbon buildup? TIA.

if your talking about the black hardened carbon inside the firing chamber, I used a mixture of carb cleaner and engine degreaser with a little plastic pen looking scraping tool I made, as for the deck, same thing except use the ice scraper to get off the gasket material, then when there wuz just a little bit of crap left over, I used a rag and some mothers mag polish, the deck side of the head looked like a mirror when I wuz done, oh and of corse clean it with carb cleaner really good when your done to get rid of any polish and other residue

So carb cleaner will not hurt the heads, valves, or seals?

I used GM top end cleaner to get the carbon off. then rinsed it off.
