Default TR Raptor Cam Only Results

I recently installed the Thunder Racing Comp Cam Grind "Raptor" in my Camaro the specs for those of you who dont know are 236/242 617/613 111+2 109 Intake Centerline on XFI Lobes The mods for my car so far are MTI LID, K&N, MAF ENDS, PORTED TB, LS-6 INTAKE, STOCK INJECTORS, SLP 25% CRANK PULLEY, RAPTOR CAM, PATRIOT .650 LIFT SPRINGS, COMP CHROMOLY 7.425 PUSHRODS,LS-2 LIFTER TRAYS, LS-7 LIFTERS, JP TIMING CHAIN, HOOKER SUPER COMP 1"-3/4 LT'S, O/R Y-PIPE, SLP LM2 EXHAUST, AUTO 4L60E WITH TCI 3500 STALL. I had it Dyno Tuned on a Mustang Dyno and was very dissappointed by the rwhp numbers it did 367 hp and 377 ft lds at the tires with the converter locked in 3rd gear. I was Pissed ! I dont know if that dyno was screwd up or what but the guys at TR said you cant relly trust a Mustang dyno. Im still on the stock 2.73s in the rear end could that be part of it ?

Who cares what the dyno says??? Is the car fun to drive? Can you feel an increase?

Everyone is dyno crazy, and forgets that dyno numbers dont mean a thing unless your comparing sigs...

Yeah it drives great for that big of a cam i couldnt beleive how good it drives and it pulls like a "Mo Fo" even with the stock 2.73s Pulls hard all the way to the limiter at 6500 rpms i could take it higher but im not going to push past that with 125,000 miles on it.

This doesnt say much but just for conversation i did a quarter mile pull with a load and it ran a 10.93 at 117 mph ....... Ha .......My tuners firehawk with head and cam laid down 455 rwhp and ran a 11.1 on the 1/4 mile pull and ran a 11.5 at the track so hopefully if its that close ill be in the 11's somewhere. He was shocked at the time i ran on the dyno , so either the dyno was way off or thunder racing wasnt bullshiting when they said the cam was setting cam only 1/4 mile times in Australia. But i know it all depends on weather and hooking up so just figured yall would get a kick out of that.

every dyno is different but it doesn't suprise me! just go and get some ET's if it runs anything close to that pull then you can really bug the **** out of the disbelievers when you say it runs high 10's/low 11's with just 367rwhp!!!

I don't see the results as being that bad. You have a mustang dyno, which reads lower than dynojets, and on top of that you have a decently sized stall on your Auto.

All those will lower your dyno numbers, I'm sure you'll run at the track and run some good times and you'll feel better.

the local mustang dyno is said to be 13% difference compared to dynojets. that would put you at 414 whp on a dynojet dyno. dont feel too bad about those numbers, i put down 312 whp on a mustag dyno. as compared to 352 on a dynojet. bolt-on, stalled auto

Mustang dynos will ALWAYS read lower. At any rate, f*** dyno numbers, they are just numbers. It's all about the *** whoopin the car will do at the track. If it pulls like a freight train, who cares what the numbers say?

with that size cam I'd be looking into much bigger gears before expecting too much out of it at the track.

I have the same cam with ls6 heads/intake. I did a 422 dynojet, and i agree this cam pulls like none other!! I have a M6 W/ 4:10's in mine and it sits you back in your seat. I was very impressed with the power, but when i hit the dyno it showed that i need more air and fuel to make more power so that may be something you should look into. I haven't run mine at the track due to concern of grenading my rear end...lol but i have done alot of @ss kicking on the street around baton rouge.......... Good luck man and i'll pass of anything i can come up with on getting more power with this cam

having numerically lower gears in the rear will actually net u more whp. mustang dynos actually read higher than dynojets most of the time, depends on how the person has their rollers set. and lastly im guessing from ur sig u have a 2000 model year, u may want to check ur tune, the 00 have the smallest injectors of all the other fbodies, with ur mods u should be making into the 400s easy they have to be on the brink of maxed out. but by the numbers the dyno pull said ud run id say they probably have their rollers set pretty tight and thats why ur numbers r low

Good point! I have a 2000 and my injectors maxed out at around 110% duty cycle. But just so you know that cam continued to make power to 6800 rpm's, i was at 422 @ 6200 rpm's when it plained off cause of maxed out injectors..... Shane @ tr told me to run 37lbs racetronics so that could be a good option for you

yeah my A/F is spot on and my injectors are at 85%, yes i know i need a fast 90/90 or 92/92 combo with bigger injectors. Im just wondering how good and big of a diff its going to make when i step up from 2.73s to my motive 3.73s. Is a swap like that going to make a big diff in seat of the pants and et's. Believe it or not my gas mileage dropped only a couple of mpg on the hwy and now i get around 18 to 19 now. But yes gears definately need to be installed soon.

u only get 18-19 on the highway!? i get 28! and ull probably lose about 3/4 of a second if u put tires on there that can handle the launch. thatll probably give u just as much seat of the pants feel as the cam. u dont need a fast intake to run bigger injectors
