Default Tapping sound, Bearing, rod or lifter?

My engine has started making a tapping sound at all RPMs and temp. It actually sounded like a squeaking belt, but I started the car with the belts off and it didn't go away. When I was listening to the engine, I took off the oil filler cap and the noise was louder as my ear went over the hole. Any ideas, I'm about to go out and pull the valve covers off to have a look.

most likely a lifter which sucks because the heads need to come off. How many miles on the stock lifters?

I have heard spun bearings squeak before on a Olds 350 I once had...

Keliente posted a vid of her Vette with a a spun bearing in here and it squeaked too.
