Default Installing cam HELP!!

I'm installing a 2002 ZO6 cam in a 2001 engine. I bought the install tool from Thunder Racing, I down loaded the " How to install a cam and springs " from LS1 how to. The engine is on a engine stand right in front of me !!!!! and this bloody cam will NOT go in all the way. I have turned the cam both ways untill my hands stop working! WHAT IS THE TRICK ???? I have it in about 80% and have had it in and out six times. This is as far as I have gotten it and I'm afraid to pull it out now.

One of the lifters towards the back of the motor must have fallen.

WOW, you took the whole engine out? You didnt have to do that. But yeah, I would say a lifter fell.

Since the motor is out of the car make life easier for yourself -- pull the back cover off the motor and see if the cam is lined up with the bearing journal. If not, stick something in the center of the cam (gotta love hollow cams) and lift it up. Then gently slide it into place. Put the back cover on, and you're all set to finish buttoning it back up

Hopefully you didn't pull the motor just to put the cam in!!
