Default lq9 cam in a 5.3 ho

i have a 5.3l HO motor and i put an lq9 6.0l cam in it what nkind of gain in power should i expect also i have a wide open exhaust no cats what do you guys think this motor makes for power as is? it is pretty much stock im gonna do intake and throttle body next

maybe 5hp it was really just a waste of time....

here is a lq9 cam specs

207/196 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.479" / 0.467" int/exh lift
116 LSA

here is a 5.3
190/191 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.466" / 0.457" int/exh lift
114 LSA

hell NO!
if your gonna break in to it,and mess with a cam!
put a REAL CAM IN IT!!!!!

Actually the 5.3HO uses a larger cam than the standard 5.3. I've never seen the duration numbers posted but I remember the lift was closer to .500. You probably took out a better cam than you put in. The wider LSA will move the powerband up, so you lost some low end with that swap.

I swapped the cam in my 02 5.3 silverado with my stock 99 LS1 cam thinking the added lift and duration would wake it up a bit even with the wider LSA. It's slower to 4500 RPM then pulls pretty good from there to redline, but overall the truck felt stronger before.

I'm with the other folks. Just get yourself a good aftermarket cam and springs if you want an increase in power. If you don't have the money for that, then put the stock cam back in it for now.
