LS2/3 cam in LS1 - please confirm before I buy Guys, I've got a late LS2/3 single bolt cam I'd like to use in my LS1. It's a custom Futral / Cam Motion grind. The cam doesn't have the reluctor tooth at the rear of the cam that the LS1 sensor needs.
After reading some other threads on this topic, I think I understand what I need to do.
I already have the single bolt cam gear w/ 4x reluctor (p/n 12591689). I think I need the LS2/3 timing cover (p/n 12600325), and I believe the sensor is included with this cover.
I sent a message to the guy that does my PCM work to ask if he can set the LS1 PCM to look for a 4x signal rather than 1X.
Can someone confirm for me that this should work before I order the parts?
Also, I'll have to extend the wiring toward the front of the engine to accomodate the sensor relocation. Does anyone happen to know the wiring configuration for the LS2/3 sensor connector? Is it just a matter of extending the LS1 connector further forward, or is it a different style connector?
