Almost done, Questions on dropping engine/trans from F-body
We have worked long and hard to remove (by dropping it from the bottom) the LS1 and T-56 as a unit from a wrecked 2002 Firebird. We have a few questions before actually dropping it out. We have been very careful not to damage components, as well as the wiring harnesses.
Pictures are always helpful in resolving these questions.
1. How do you get to the oil pressure sender at the back of the intake, on top of the valley plate to disconnect it?
2. Where do you disconnect the EGR valve to separate the engine from the car?
3. Do you need to disconnect the wires on the T-56?
4. We are dropping the engine with the catalytic converters, do we need to disconnect the second set of 02 sensors after the converters?
5. Is it OK to cut the fuel line upstream, and clamp it off with a C-clamp? Can we bleed the pressure off at the shrader valve first?
The tool for removing the fuel line at the intake was omitted for our removal tonight.
6. Any common mistakes that people make, that we can be alerted to?

1 you do not need to disconnect that until the whole motor is out
3 i have an auto and i did not have to disconnect the wires.
4 yes you do. i personally removed the cats and the exhaust manifolds before dropping the motor. but you don't have to, i just did it to have extra room.
5 you do not need to cut any fuel lines. just use a 3/8th fuel line disconnect tool at the intake manifold
here is a very good guide on how to drop the motor

Its easier to remove the harness from the car and take it with the engine.

1. the oil pressure sensor can be removed while you slowly drop the motor
3. and no you dont have to disconnect the wires from the tranny
also be careful with the brake lines and the abs sensors. its not hard at all though for mine i just lifted the front of the car till the back bumper touched the ground, then used to floor jacks one under the tranny and one under the k-member and me and a buddy slowly lowered it all down. the whole process took about 5 hours
