Default anyone think i went backwards on my cam swap???

the more i think about it, the more i question my cam decision.

i put the gm Hotcam in my LS6. i lost peak lift, 550 down to 525.

i figured the added duration would make up for it. i was also hoping the cam would give me more torque. its a daily driver and i dont spend much time above 5800-6000 rpm. (just incase you dont know the specs off the top of your head, the ls6 cam is 204/218 550/550 117.5lsa and the hotcam is 218/227 525/525 112lsa)

im in CA so the hotcam was also chosen because it will pass the sniff test.

would the ASA cam have given very much more than the hotcam? enough to deal with it possibly not passing smog? (asa cam is 226/236 525/525 110lsa)

FYI, i plan i plan on eventually getting my heads done by LE or someone, or going with an after market head (nothing too crazy). i just want good power and torque throughout the rpm range.

any opinions on the cam and even the heads would be great. ive heard less than spectacular things about patriot heads so ive ruled them out. im always on a budget, so if you guys know of any body who does quality head porting along with LE, lemme know.

thanks,
Jeremy

You should pick up a little power with the longer duration cam. but i would try to get a cam in the 600 lift so u can flow much with out added duration
