Valve Float: LS6 vs. LS2 243 heads (&Lift Rating)
I am looking at picking up a stock set of low mileage 243 heads and other than the difference in the valve composition/weight, are the springs rated at the same lift?
Are there really any issues that I will see with running LS2 243 heads as opposed to LS6 heads, both in stock form and no rpms higher than 6400? Will the power loss be negligible?
Thanks,
-Karl

Yes, you won't tell a difference, the lightweight valves were for extra insurance with the LS6's higher factory redline. Literally thousands of LS1's are running high lift cams without any issue, just pick a good spring and don't pick a cam that maxes out the max lift of the spring. Be sure to look at the spring weights as well open/seated.

PAC 1518 springs on my setup and I have shifted her at 6800 rpm with no issues at all. LS2 valves are more durable than the hollow / sodium valves. It's alll about the lobes on the cam, crazy agressive ramp rates are going to need stiffer springs that will wear out faster.
