Default 5.3 blocks, just some FYI.......

I work at a machine shop and we're building a 5.7L from a iron 5.3 and were just curious if you could take a 5.3 out to a 4.000in bore. So, got hold of a junk 5.3 block (early '99) and went to boring, didn't hit water until 4.140 on most of the cylinders and a couple went 4.180. So if some of you guys have a 4.8/5.3 block and are wanting to build a budget street motor with some L92/LS3 style heads that's pretty good news. Thought people might like to know.

Definately not for boosted or N2O, but for a N/A street motor it should be fine. Always get it sonic checked (if available) before you start cutting just to be sure, just be smart about the whole thing.

What was the thickness of the metal to the water jackets? I would be a lil scared of doing that myself, not enough meat I would think.

EDITED for not making much sense lol.
