Default burning oil????? tips/help please

ok here is the deal, when i first fire my car it smells great, that nice burnt gas smell....but when my car runs for a while i can smell that nasty smell of burning oil....im not losing any oil at all so im kinda puzzled. when i pulled my tb to port it i noticed comming out of the pcv line some oil and the inside of the intake was coated, the pcv valve was no more than about 10 months old or so. i put a new one in there and was just wondering what else it could be

apparantly the PCV systems' design was pretty crappy
so most people with that problem just get a catch-can
if that doesnt fix it, might be the valve seals or rings leaking

You could be losing oil both through the PCV system and by the rings. GM used very low ring tensions on the LS1 to minimize friction, and as a result oil gets past the rings pretty easy. I've heard you can change to oil rings that have a scraper tip to eliminate the problem. With my engine, the PCV catch can is usually empty or just has water in it, so I think it's the rings. At least the engine will last a long time with all the oil on the cylinder walls!
