LQ4 head, 243 vs...
Hey, I'm a noobie to the LSx range. I'm swapping in a LSx into a 80's BMW 3 coupe, e30.
I've got a good deal on a 2003 LQ4. It's a low mile motor, so I want to leave the short block stock. I'm looking to make at least 500 crank HP. I'm on a reasonable budget. It's gonna stay EFI, and I need enough vacumn only to run power brakes.
I was thinking LQ4 with stock 243 heads. 02+ LS1 intake. Headers, open exhuast, no cats.
What cam?
Would there be a better choice for heads?
Could I machine off enough from my 317 heads to raise the compression to match the 243?
Or, am I way off and no where near the flow I need to make that power?
