Default Parts suggestions

I got a few parts for winter piled up in my garage, but waiting untill I save up and buy everything to get started. So far, current mods are in sig, and I just picked up some Pacesetter LT's, O/R y pipe, and a set of used 799 heads. I plan on getting the heads ported as well. Well, Im new to the internals game, so Im looking for advice. I want to order a cam and supporting parts as well. Any suggestions for the cam? Ill probably spray a 100 shot with this set up. Been kinda looking at the 228r cam. And what all would I want to get as well to go along with this project? Valve springs, and what all esle? Maybe an upgraded fuel pump? Just looking for help with a parts list.. Thanks!

228R would love the gas. Port and mill the 799s to give you some added compression. Here's you some parts to get.

Valve springs - PRC .660s
Pushrods - 7.400
Racetronix Fuel Pump Kit since you'll be spraying.
LS6 ported oil pump
LS2 chain/gears
Underdrive pulley
LS7 lifters
Head gaskets - either GM MLS or even Cometics since you'll be spraying.
Head bolts - preferrably ARP since you'll be spraying but stock will do.
Tune

Hope this helps.

How many miles are on the car?

If its less than 50k than I would skip the oil pump.

Everything in the list above seems good except the pushrod length if you mill the heads at all. I highly recommend gettin the heads that you use milled to get the compression around 11:1...it will really help the torque down low as opposed to sticking a cam in with stock compression.

If you do take the oil pump off, you'll need a new pick-up tube o-ring.

My stock oil pump failed @ 60k miles so I ALWAYS recommend to everyone to do an oil pump swap.

Thank you for your guys's responses and the parts list! Thats what I was looking for. And my car has 43,xxx miles on it, and is an 01, did those come with the LS6 oil pump? sorry if thats a stupid question, but thought I read that somewhere. You guys think the cam in the classified ads im about to post would be a decent cam for me? He's selling alot of the cam neccesity parts you mentioned with his cam (used). Its a TSP 231 237 112 Lsa cam. Pretty much, Ill be looking to run into some used parts, as I dont have the budget for all brand new.. But Ill do what I can.
