Default Max bore for stock piston

I'm running a hone through my block('98 LS1) to clean it up some and knock out the ring groove. What is the max bore size the cylinder can be and use stock pistons/rings. I know the less use of the hone, the better, but there are a few marks I would like to see if I can get out. I'm sure there is a range somewhere, but I have not been able to find it.

thanks

Just hone it out to 3.093 and get new pistons... You could just hone the scuffed bores but that is ghetto IMO......

Piston to wall clearance should be 0.0007" minimum to 0.00212 maximum.

Did you mean 3.903? sorry not flaming just trying to make sure the guy has good info.

The stock bore is 3.898 so I would think going much over 3.900 would be pushing it. I believe there are some non-forged aftermarket pistons in the size you would need now so it wouldn't be extremely costly to go back with some new pistons. I would talk with the machine shop/engine builder you plan to have to do the work and see what they think. Just for reference the max recommended bore for an ls1 is 3.910.
