Max bore for stock piston

Max bore for stock piston
I'm running a hone through my block('98 LS1) to clean it up some and knock out the ring groove. What is the max bore size the cylinder can be and use stock pistons/rings. I know the less use of the hone, the better, but there are a few marks I would like to see if I can get out. I'm sure there is a range somewhere, but I have not been able to find it.
thanks

The stock bore is 3.898 so I would think going much over 3.900 would be pushing it. I believe there are some non-forged aftermarket pistons in the size you would need now so it wouldn't be extremely costly to go back with some new pistons. I would talk with the machine shop/engine builder you plan to have to do the work and see what they think. Just for reference the max recommended bore for an ls1 is 3.910.
