Default Question concerning hurt motor-need advice**

I was in Texas 2 weeks ago and was running a built STI on the freeway. I have a stock internal LS1. Here's what happened: I was at the top of 3rd gear at 6k rpms, went to shift to fourth and hit 2nd... my clutch has been on it's last leg for a yr and has been acting up alot. So when it hit 2nd, it railed the limiter and turned off. I knew something bad had happened. So I coasted into a road side rest and tried to start it again. I ran very rich and sounded like it had a huge cam in it. Also, when I would rev it up a bit, it didn't sound like it was at 4k rpms more like 2k. I had it towed to the pontiac dealership right by the Dallas Love airport and they pulled the passenger side head off. All four pistons have a small divet on them where the valves kissed them. Also, there is one bent push rod. My question is, can I blend the top of the piston in and get hardened push rods and new heads and be good to go? Because I can't afford an engine rebuild. Here's pics:

and a pic of the car

Why would you need new heads? Pushrods, valves, and clean up the pistons. That's what I would do.

Put the other heads you have on with some good double springs and good push rods. Pistons are fine!

I pulled the old 3 to 2 a while back, and it was running like crap for a couple of miles. This really makes me ask questions... Thanks for the pictures. I am doing heads/ cam in the spring so it will rid me of the problems. Would this cause bad gas mileage too? I don't romp on my car too much and I get like 150/tank all city driving.

Plan on quite a significant drop in gas mileage with heads and cam.
bigger cam/heads = more fuel and air burned = worse gas mileage.

Should be fine. Like others have said, get some new push rods and valves, check the pistons out, should be good to go. Id put on some better valve springs even if staying with the stock cam. Get some cheap ls6 springs or something.

Sorry I didn't phrase it right. I meant If I bent a pushrod would it cause the bad gas mileage.
