Post And one other ? bout a seal need help

i bought a ls1 out of a 98 z28 should the rear main seal be leaking if it has 35to40k on it supposely i never really heard of one going until way later could it be from age an siting guy ripped it out to do a big block turbo set up need help

Seals can go bad at any time. Also just because it has low miles doesn't take away the age, its a 11 year old seal, it probly dried out.

Well, you haven't told anything about your setup or if it's even running (I ASSume that's how you know it's leaking). I can tell you this, if the engine is not properly vented either with breathers or PCV system, the crankcase will pressure up and blow oil past the seal(s).
