Default head questions

I know theres another thread about the 853 heads but i dont want to hijack his thread. So I have a 2000 z28 with 853's are these heads that bad to were you guys wouldn't do a cam without changing the heads. If so whats the best head on the market for the buck?

yea you can still do a cam, just make sure your change the springs at the very least. the best bang for the buck seems to be the 243 heads

yeah if i do the cam swap deff. going to change the springs, oil pump and chain. Just wondering if im robbing myself of alot of hp with the 853's, but dont really have the extra $$ for set of $1600 heads.

243s are better then 853s. But 853s are hardly junk there are plenty of cam only guys that make over 400rwhp (with a proper combo) with untouched 853s.243s are more sought after because of the smaller cc and they do flow better. If you have the $$$ go 243s if not get a cam spec'd for 853s.
