Default Cam

What type of engine mods would i have to do if i placed in a lunati cam with specs lift-.544/.543 @50-230/237 112 2800-6000 rpm?? Would port and polished heads help? Would i need to change out the springs?

i know you'll need new valve springs, pushrods, maybe retainers..
you dont have to have ported heads but it will give more power over just a cam.

you will benefit greatly from some long tube or mid length headers and a cat back or cut out...

there are a lot of experts here that can tell you exactly what else would be needed,
hope that helps

well it would help if you gave us the year, tranny, and list of mods that you already have

another suggestion is to read the very informative threads that we already have here regarding cams.

but to answer your question you'll neeed new springs at minimum. a single spring such as comps 918's will work or manleys. if you get the comps you can use your stock steel retainer but new tit. ones are optimal if you plan to spin past 6500. i got the manley kit from SDPC2k with springs and tit. retainers for 178, there good for .600 lift. hardened pushrods are optional, some people like using the stock ones as a fail safe so if they miss a shift the pushrods bend/break instead of damaging a vavle. i use hardended pushrods myself.

Higher lift springs are a must. I'd say you'd be making a mistake going with a Comp single spring. After all the recent horror stories people have had with singles breaking and wreaking havoc in engines, I'd go with a set of dual springs. The dual spring will give you better performance at high RPM over the single spring.
