dart head ?s
Im not particularly in the market for heads, but I have been doing some research. I am currently running a stock bottom end ls1 with a 228 236 .588/.602 lift on a 110+2 lsa. Dart heads are in my price range, and i was wondering whether i should do a 205cc or 225cc head. Would it be cheaper to buy them assembled, or bare and add my own parts? I dont want to mess with porting them either. What kind of gains am i looking at. I know i have lots of questions, and i have searched. I know every application is different, so thats why i post. tia,

Dart heads bare will see modest gains. Nothing that LS6 heads can compete or surpass. Dart heads REALLY shine with port work. That's why you see them bare. They're made to have work done on them. I'd go ported LS6 if you don't plan on port work on the Darts.

^^I totally understand, I have not ruled out LS6 heads, but I am just trying to learn more about darts right now. I could always port them later. Plus there seems to be a lot of controversy over them. Just want a clear understanding of them for my particular setup

I had one of the first set of 205's and for me they were decent heads for the price. Since then, the price has increased and based on feedback from others including some vendors it appears that the machining may be an issue as well (guides to large for the valve stems, valves misaligned with seat, etc.). If you do go with the Darts, then definitely the 225's however based on everything I have read recently with some of the issues I would look elsewhere.
I upgraded my Dart's for AFR's.
