Default what cam should i run

I just bought a set of heads from another member and am wanting to get some opinions of what cam to run. I am kinda new to the cam lingo so i would appreciate the advice. I have a 98 vert with a 02 stock block. The heads I bought are PRC 220 cc Stage 2.5 5.3l heads. They have upgraded valves 2.04" I 1.575" E., PRC dual springs good to .650 lift. I currently have a ls6 cam with stock 241 heads. I also have matching stainless qtp lts/3" y/3.5" e cut out, ls6 manifold, stock ported TB, 100 TSP MAF, 104 Fast Toys lid, 30# SVO injectors, SLP UDP,3:73s, no cats and the free mods. Right now with the stock 241s and ls6 cam I am putting down 405 rwhp. I was originally gonna keep the ls6 in there and just be done with the car. Maybe a Fast setup and/or elec water pump later in the summer but now I am leaning toward a cam while I am in there. I daily drive my vert(some days up to 100 miles +) and am currently sitting on 20s. My question is what kind of cam do u think i should run. I am looking for fuel/milage efficiency as that is already a problem. I only get 200 a tank city 260/280 all hiway. Please shoot me your suggestions as I am looking to buy a cam in the next few days. Thanks for looking

go big or go home! lol,jk

I think something like a torquer2 would do you pretty good. Of course with anything bigger then the ls6 cam you might loose a little bit more on gas mileage. It all depends on the tune also. And those 20's kill mileage as well. Are you auto or m6?

well you know my opinion lol and maybe switching out the rims for stock 17/s or maybe some 18's at most those 5.3's will up your compression (unless i'm mistaken lol) there for giving some more power but i'm not sure how much (and if i'm wrong on this don't let the masses kill me lol)

no problem bud! rather help someone than not, it's the point of car forums: to help people out not to be dicks to them

keep the ls6 intake.a good low rpm torque cam will help with gas mileage .a EPS cam,or a ED Curtis street sweeper cam.check out studderin at hardcore ls1.he runs that cam with 241 ,10.66 et.

yeah. it was technically a sac f bodyz gtg but they posted it on norcal and invited everyone. It was here in Sac. It was a good turnout. probally 40-50 people. We had a few races lined up after. We met up at Hooters at 7 and left the races about 12. It was a good nite and no cops

your gas mileage shouldns change with a 224/224 on 114, that would make a great dd cam. So would a stealth 2 cam 224/220 i believe on 116. That might suprise a lot of people cause it will idle like stock.

ah that one lol i live 70 miles south and have no car right now hahaha

btw i have a tr227/224 on a 114LSA with 300 miles on it it would surprise people and do abit better than that 224/224 or 224/220 let me know oh yeah it'll outperform that ls6 cam

I'd go with the torquer v3 or maybe the 228r. I read go things about those cams and since it's your DD they won't be too big

+1 for the 228r. you should easily pick up 30-40 hp with the addition of those heads and the cam with a decent tune.
