Default How loose should a timing chain be?

I have a 6.0 with 29k miles on it. I have it on the stand so I went ahead and replaced the timing chain with a new Ls2 chain. I used the gears that were on there. The new chain seems way to loose as did the old chain. Is this normal? Im from the sbc world so and i never ran a chain that seemed this loose. Any info would be great. Thanks fellas!

this question seems to pop up everywhere. I wonder if the problem is the gears and not the chain. Surely someone makes a single timing set that will fit properly.

im installing a cam, i replaced the old 80K mile stock chain with a LS2 chain and it has the same amount of slack as the old one did. I think this is the norm for these motors.

Why was it a waste of money? The chain itself may still be far superior in quality and strength to what you had regardless of slack. Was it the Katech C5R chain? If so the Katech site lists it for less than the figure you posted above.
