lq4 stroker option, different strokes possible?
Ok. This is what I know so far. Lq4 6.0 stock crank, rods, and pistons are good up to around 500 hp. So I figured while I was upgrading my rotating assembly I would go ahead and pick up some cubic inches with a stroker crank. My first choice was the 408 which would take the stroke from like a 3.62" ( I think, I know its a 3.6" something ) to a 4", but then I was reading about that stroke being too long. Causing piston slap or piston rock. Some saying its just who builds it. I found a crank with only a 3.9" stroke. Would that small of an amount make a difference? Are there any other options for different strokes? I'm already having to upgrade my rotating assemby already so if I can find a way to gain some cubic inches that be great. Any feedback will help. Thanks guys

Well if you are upgrading the entire rotating assembly you can easily get a matched set so there are no clearance issues. The stock stroke on those motors already cause the piston to start leaving the bore. You can easily do a 4" stroke and if your worried about issues like smoking just get pistons with higher wrist pin points.

Well the smoking is from the rocking of the piston and letting oil go past the rings. That can't be good. Stock stoke compared to the 408 is only 0.388 inches. I was wondering how people are having problem with just about a third of an inch.

We have done hundreds of 4.000 stroke deals and never recieved one back for smoking from the shortblock. The shelf Wiseco and Diamond pistons are very good in these sizes and very developed.
