Default Opinions Appreciated.

Alright guys here is my situation.

I have a 2004 GTO M6. 110K miles and I am going to rebuild a motor this winter. My mods currently are:

LS1
PRC Stage 2.5 Ported Heads
TSP MS3 Camshaft (237/242 .603"/.609" 112 LSA)
Pacesetter Longtube Headers - Off Road
JBA Catback Exhaust System
MSD 8.5mm Ignition Wires w/ NGK TR55 Plug
RWHP- 433
RWTQ-382
TUNED BY VECTOR MOTORSPORTS

I have never owned a N20 car, so I decided to give it a whirl. Sounds fun. Also I DD my car and like my fuel economy (Currently 27mpg highway).

My options-
Rebuild my current LS1 with a forged rods/pistons. And just install and tune it to a 150shot maybe 200. Be done with it.

or

Buy a LQ9 shortblock out of a salvaged car, install forged rods/pistons, N20 most likely around a 100 shot, get bigger shot after more chasis/suspension work.

Now of course the LQ9 is obviously going to out perfrom. But how much more money do you think it will cost compared to just rebuilding my motor? I want to use my heads, intake, exhaust etc... Think I could be close to 500 NA? Will I be alright on stock crank? How big of a pain in the *** will the install be? Different computer? Electronic throttle body? Budget is a BIG part of this but if its really worth it, 65hr work weeks wont kill me.

Goal is a High 10-Low 11 sec DD.

Thanks in advance.

I'd just rebuild what you have, forged rods and pistons, upgrade your fuel system, some colder plugs, get a nice conservative tune and spray the hell out it.

hell rebuild what you got and spray!

i didnt make the power you did on motor i only made 380hp then put a 120 shot on and was 11.4x's

forged motor making 430+ with a 200 shot i would say high 10s easy... get your heads milled a touch to bump compression

let her eat!

I forgot to update my mod list. I already have a walbro 255(that sufficient to spray a 200?). Im terrified of the idea of blowing my motor. I just dont have the funds to replace it. And being a DD I want to keep my compression pretty close to where its at.

Can I really spray 200 with stock crank, SAFELY??????! The N20 kit that I am buying will have just about every safety feature I can get.

I'm thinking def thinking about it. Buying a remanufactured shortblock and throwing a cam and spray to it and calling it a day.

You MIGHT be close to maxing out your rails and lines... dunno?

Send Nate an email here: http://www.nastyperformance.com/default.html

He can answer all your fuel system requirement questions weather you buy from him or not. Cool dude.

200 shot and safely are not synonomous. You can stay relatively safe by having a good tune, constantly watching your A/F mix, reading plugs, etc.
But at the end of the day, you'll still have to grow a much larger set of *****.

Safer would be a 125-150 shot.

IF you only plan on spraying a 100 shot and nothing more, aluminum should be fine with forged internals, IMO.

Thanks for the info.

I am pretty sure Im leading towards the LQ9 or other larger size engine. Ive gotten several PMs about motors that might work in my price range. I would like to be closer to 500 NA. And it will leave me more options to mod in the future.

Spray it! But do it the right way lol, we all know what happens when people get greedy with nitrous.
